With regards to community, I am currently a coach for the Midget Tier 2 hockey team in Kamloops and I have coached elite levels of hockey for over four years now.  Coaching provides me with opportunities to work from a position of authority and to increase my leadership skills in regards to making tough decisions and standing by them, thinking and adapting quickly to situations, conflict resolution, maintaining integrity, and practicing ethical principles.   Coaching has helped me to learn how to make quick, responsible decisions and to learn how to react to stressful situations with tact, diplomacy, and respect.  I consistently and regularly conduct interviews and meetings with our local hockey association, hockey parents, and athletes and must evaluate all of the information presented to me in order to look at all sides of a situation to arrive at an ethical decision. I have also donated my time to a variety of charities in order to give back and contribute to my community, such as the Salvation Army, the Food Bank, the SPCA, Wendy’s Dreamlift Day, One-to-One Reading, and I have worked with special needs athletes, such as the Upper Deck Vees and Special Olympics.  These opportunities have enabled me to grow both personally and professionally and to become better-rounded as an individual, as an employee, and as a service leader.
